On the right track? Energy use, carbon emissions, and intensities of world rail transportation, 1840—2020

My colleague Bernardo Tostes is the lead author on a new article entitled On the right track? Energy use, carbon emissions, and intensities of world rail transportation, 1840—2020 published in Applied Energy.

The paper used a novel machine learning method to address partial data coverage issues. I especially like Figure 10 which shows the rise and fall of final energy consumption for railways.
